Welcome to Connolly Primary School

 An Independent Public School

Principal's Welcome to Connolly PS

I would like to offer a warm welcome to our school. We are an Independent Public School, which enjoys an excellent reputation in the local community and beyond.

Our professional and dedicated staff are committed to growing their skills and capacities to ensure each child is a successful student. Our staff have high expectations of students and adopt innovative, effective and evidence-based teaching strategies. The staff are committed to shared leadership, collaborative practices, and the coaching and mentoring of colleagues.

To realise our school’s vision of Excellence, Learning, Innovation & Care, Connolly Primary School follows the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline, developing our own curriculum maps for each learning area to ensure the delivery of balanced, responsive and connected learning programmes from Kindergarten to Year Six.

Connolly Primary School has an exceptional Student Services programme, incorporating Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Pastoral Care. In 2017, we will be continuing as a Teacher Development School for SEN. Through this initiative, we share our established outstanding practices in providing support for students with special educational needs with other schools and networks across Western Australia. In addition, we have been at the cutting edge of several research projects run by University of Western Australia.

We have a high quality Early Years programme. All our learning programmes from Kindergarten to Year 2 are heavily linked to the Early Years Learning Framework, and our school again leads best practice in this area through our participation in the National Quality Standards Core Schools Project.

I am proud of the extra-curricular opportunities our staff go above and beyond to provide for our students. Our Performing Arts programmes are excellent, with regular student performances providing students with the opportunity to share their talents and passions with others. Our highly successful Physical Education programme promotes fitness, participation and commitment. Our Year 2-6 students engage in Japanese lessons, in which students learn the language through cultural studies, and have the opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange programme. In 2017, we have introduced STEM (Science and Technologies) as a specialist area to provide students with further opportunities to build knowledge and skills needed in the 21st Century.

Our school enjoys a strong sense of community, with the “Connolly Spirit” being supported by parents who place a high value on education. As an Independent Public School, our school community contributes to the strategic direction of our school through parent and community representatives on the School Board, and we have an active P&C Association. We welcome parents to be part of their child’s education through these groups, and through the many volunteering opportunities throughout the school year.

I encourage you all to look through our website to get a taste for what Connolly Primary School has to offer. Should you find the information you are seeking is not available, please contact the school directly. We invite you to visit our school, meet with staff and to tour our school grounds.
